The Fuel Diagnostic

Get the read-out before you pay anyone to fix anything

Nobody books the mechanic before the diagnostic. You plug the car in, you read the fault codes, and then you decide what is worth fixing. This is that, for how your business shows up online. 7 checks, a few minutes, and the report is yours whether or not you ever speak to us.

Free. No card, and you do not need to book a call to get the report.

Not the same as the Fuel Check. This one scans what is publicly true about your business and scores it. The Fuel Check asks you six questions about how the business actually runs, which is the half no scanner can see. Most people should do both, and they take about the same time.

The 7 points

Each one is a question a customer answers about you without ever telling you the answer.

  1. 1Business detailsCan a customer find you, and reach you the way they prefer?
  2. 2Techno stackCan you measure what your marketing is doing?
  3. 3Google Business ProfileDoes the listing customers actually see hold up?
  4. 4ListingsDo 31 directories agree about who you are?
  5. 5Online reputationWhat do people find when they check you out?
  6. 6Website performanceDoes the site load before people give up?
  7. 7Local SEO heatmapWhere on the map do you actually rank?

What one actually looks like

We ran it on ourselves. Insert Fuel scored 32, and here is the whole thing, including the part where a marketing company has no tracking pixel and turns up nowhere on a map of its own city. Showing somebody else’s flattering report would prove less.

Name, address, phone and email all present and all agreeing with each other, which is more than most businesses manage. The gap is the website: no chat, so every visitor who is not ready to pick up the phone has nowhere to go.

Almost nothing is installed. No Tag Manager, no Meta pixel, no Ads conversion tracking. Every pound spent on traffic to this site currently lands somewhere we cannot see, which is the single most expensive line in this report.

Verified, with the address, hours and phone right and 53 reviews at a clean 5.0. Photos and posts are thin, and the profile has not been posted to recently, which is the part Google reads as an inactive business.

One directory out of 31 has us right. Thirty have no record at all, including Yelp, MapQuest and Facebook. Nobody chooses a marketing company off Tellows, but the absence is what local search reads as a business that might not exist.

Scored zero on the first pass because the review scan had not finished. It came back at 100%: 50 reviews analysed, 50 positive, none negative, 98% of them answered. The one weak number is speed, at over 30 days to reply, and a reply after a month reads as an obligation.

SEO scores 82, which is fine. Speed does not: interactivity at 39 and largest content at 44 mean the page is visibly there before it is usable. Thirteen things flagged on desktop and eleven on mobile, and most traffic is mobile.

Run yours

Your business name and website is enough to start. The scan takes a few minutes and the report comes back the same way the one above did.

A read-out is not a repair

The report tells you what is wrong. Some of it you can fix yourself in an afternoon, and we would rather you did. Bring the ones you cannot to the free weekly call and we will work through them live, or put a fuel plan on it and we do the fixing.

The weekly call

Bring your biggest problem. We solve it on the call.

Not a webinar and not a pitch. We go round and ask everyone what they are blocked on, pick one, and deal with it properly in front of everybody.

  1. 1

Everyone says what they are stuck on

Round the room, briefly. Most people find somebody else has the same problem.

  2. 2

We pick one and teach the theory

Why it happens and how to think about it, so you can handle it yourself the next time it comes up.

  3. 3

Then we actually fix it, live

The second half is the doing. Not slides about the solution, the solution, built while you watch.
